The WFHA Support department comprises a Floating Support team, the Support Services Manager and the Director of Housing and Support. The Floating Support team will provide you with assistance to enable you to live independently in your own homes, and this service is available to all sheltered tenants.
The Floating Support team work from 8.00am to 5.00pm on a rota basis across all sheltered schemes within the borough.
In our supported accommodation, we currently work in partnership with external support providers for our learning disabilities and homeless tenants; we provide the landlord function for these properties.
The Support Services department provides the following services to all tenants who require them:
- 24- hour emergency alarm cover.
- General support to enable tenants to remain living independently in their own home.
- Support to groups of tenants to enable them to actively participate in activities, by supporting tenants with identified needs to remain independent and encouraging them to discuss any concerns they may have.
- Welfare benefit advice and assistance, including form-filling etc.
Individually tailored support plans, including general advice for independent living, arranging for additional support where necessary and advocacy work with tenants to support their aims.
WFHA provides sheltered housing across the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Sheltered housing is for applicants over the age of 55 with a support need, while still able to live independently, or with a low level care package.
Our Floating Support team provides a service from 8am to 5 pm in our sheltered accommodation. The team work in patches across the borough and visit tenants daily, twice weekly or weekly depending on their needs.
During your stay the team will conduct a person-centred support plan with you where all aspects of your life will be explored; these plans are reviewed every six months and adjusted to match your changing needs.
Our five large schemes also have communal facilities where various activities take place.
WFHA works in partnership with various support providers in our properties across the borough. We currently have three houses for people with learning disabilities, one house for autistic adults and one house for second stage homelessness.
All applications for these houses need to come via the support provider and/or the local authority.
WFHA waiting list for sheltered housing is currently closed.
People aged 55 years and over with a support need can apply directly to WFHA for our sheltered accommodation. While most of our vacancies are filled from the local authority waiting list, we do hold a small waiting list for sheltered housing, which is considered on priority of need.
You can apply directly to us by completing our application form, which you can download from the News and Information Tab, then choose Downloads, or obtain from our Head Office. To contact us, click here.
We will acknowledge your application when we receive it and invite you for an interview. You will then be placed on our waiting list.
The length of time you may stay on the waiting list varies.
The support services that we provide to sheltered tenants are funded by the local authority Supporting People funding. Applicants/tenants who are in receipt of full Housing Benefit will be eligible for this funding. Once secured, the funding is paid directly to WFHA for the support services that you receive from us.
Applicants/tenants who do not receive Housing Benefit can still receive our support services but will have to pay for this themselves. Please call Head Office for more information on Support charges.
SUPPORT – WFHA provides out of hours support via a community alarm system, which is monitored by a control centre. Each flat has a module which can be activated when an emergency arises and a member of the control centre staff can assist the tenant with the emergency.
REPAIRS – If you have an emergency repair out of office hours, please phone 020 8524 2822. Your call will be diverted to our out of hours call centre, who will arrange for any remedial works to be carried out by our contractor.
